No unlimited Internet connection available at the ranch during the last week, therefore no news since last week end. The week went really fast, horse shoeing, cattle feeding and drives, fence checking, a few steers to be roped and doctored, as much horsemanship as possible and even an unexpected session of bronco riding).
On Thursday, we found an elk carcass, perfectly cleaned, in the middle of the ranch meadows. It was not there a few hours before, it might have been killed by a pack of wolves. Those bald eagles took this opportunity to get fresh meat with no effort.
This is why they call Montana the Big Sky country:
Below, Annette, the only Charolais they kept when they decided to change the cattle to Black Angus, and her little Wessie (also nicknamed "the little monkey", for the way she holds her tail), born last week.
Buster Brown was an amazingly good horse (yes, I know, I say the same thing about every single horse I ride here, but it is just the truth !)
And here I am, back in Kalispell, having left my friends in Kalispell this morning, but looking forward to seeing them again at the ranch. Happy trails, guys, I already miss you!
