Chennai

Vanakkan!

Another flashback, until August this time, for two weeks spent in Chennai on a business trip, but also enjoying the Indian food and the historical sites thanks to my colleagues.

The first day of the weekend was spent travelling to Mahabalipuram. The history of this town goes back to the 1st century, but the most famous part, the monolithic sanctuaries carved out of rock, appeared in the 7th century. Temples and open-air reliefs, portraying events described in the Mahabharata, show the magnificence of the ancient capital of the Pallava dynasty.

On our way back to Chennai, we stop at a village where the architecture and traditions of the different parts of South India are represented, for the tourists.

On Sunday, no need to drive away from Chennai, the temples of the city deserve hours of visits.

First, Kapaleeshwar Temple, with the best guides possible ;-)

Then Ramakrishna Temple:

and Iscon temple

And then a very nice Thai restaurant, in order to recover from the incredible heat and conclude this awesome weekend

Thanks a lot Christopher, Madhu, Mahi, Krishna, Dharam and Raajesh for those great moments, that I will never forget. Take care!
