Olympic Games (1)

First day at the Pyeongchang Olympic Games (Feb 11th)

The first event I will attend is tonight at 8pm, so I leave Seoul at 1pm, take a train to Wonju, and then a taxi to the place where I will be staying for the next 2 weeks.

Just let me mention something: when I started gathering information about South Korea for the Olympic Games, I saw that a new high speed train line would be constructed between Seoul and Gangneun (on the West coast), linking the Olympic sites, and stopping at Wonju.
That's the reason why I booked this accommodation, which is only a 15 minute walk away from the train station.
What I didn't know by then, and discovered only a couple of weeks ago, is that the new high speed train does not stop in Wonju, but in a brand new train station, built at 7km from Wonju city center.
I assumed stupidly that there would be shuttles connected with the different trains between the new station and the city center. But it seems that nobody thought about it, so I will need a taxi to go the station every day, and to come back to the accommodation every evening. Fortunately, it won't be too expensive.

But the first issue appears when I show the address to the taxi driver (in Korean, of course): he doesn't know where the street is, and it will take him a couple of minutes to find it on his GPS).
Eventually, I get there, drop the luggage, put all my winter fan gear one, and head back to the station to go to Pyeongchang.

After a couple more hurdles, I eventually find one of the friends I was supposed to meet there, and we attend the biathlon race together.

New problem: when I get back to Wonju in the evening (it is about midnight), there are no taxi at the taxi stand, and about 15 people standing in a line.
With the help of an English girl who lives here and of an employee of the station information center, I eventually manage to get a taxi, but I hope that it won't be like that every evening :-(
