First of all, a few pictures of Colombo :
Sigiriya site and its incredible frescoes, painted during the fifth century and perfectly preserved until nowadays :
A few pictures of other archaeological sites, mainly former capitals built during the 12th century, spread throughout the country, in the middle of the jungle, and surrounded by monkeys
Some of the life scenes on the side of the road can be seem surprising, but you quickly get used to teenagers washing elephants in the rivers, and to people climbing up the trees to get the coconuts. And if you are lucky to be there on the days which are said to be the right ones for weddings, then you can enjoy the ceremonies and family gatherings which take place then in most villages.
A few local wild animals and flowers... If Bruno and Karine were here, I would be able to tell you the color of the eyes of the animals below, but unfortunately they are not. The only thing you have to remember if one day you come to Sri Lanka is that the wild elephants tend to gather on the side of the road at sunset, and you definitely don't want them to cross the road right in front of your car !
This could be a nice country for Mounir : even though it is full of bats, their population is strongly regulated by the fact that they have the bad habit to hang themselves on the electrical wire, and it does not seem to be a very good idea...
Birthday party with the family at whose house I stayed during a few days, with fresh roasted garlic from the garden as an appetizer, the traditional rice and curry, and a good chocolate cake to finish the meal, washed with a bottle of Arrack, the local liquor. That was just great, thank you so much Sumali, Amarajeewa, and the whole family !
As you might start getting fed up with the pictures of churches, I thought I could change a bit, and move to buddhist temples...
Next news will be from Kandy, a city located in the middle of the rice fields...
