Chianti

A few days ago, I said that in Florence, wherever you go you will find something nice to see.
This is also applicable to Tuscany on a larger scale. No need to drive hours until the next point of interest, the next beautiful is probably just around the corner (or let's say half an hour from the one where you are). You can also drive randomly, and let the fate bring you to your next destination.

This is where the fate brought me, while driving across Chianti, from Volterra to Arezzo.

First thing in the morning, Colle di Val d'Elsa, on the side of the road, just a few meters away from me.

Then Monteriggioni. After entering the gate to the walled village, you find yourself in an airy space where time seems to have stood still. The well, which is actually a cistern, in the center of the square becomes the focal point each year for the medieval festival. Because of its defensive function, the history of the village is marked by countless armed clashes with its rival Florence, which on various occasions and using diverse stratagems tried to destroy the walled hamlet.

Then it is Castellina in Chianti, for lunch.

Then Radda in Chianti:

Twenty minutes later, here I am in Gaiole in Chianti:

Not bad for a single day, I have had a lot worse during the last weeks...
