San Gimignano & Volterra

San Gimignano is one of the nicest villages in Tuscany. At least, it is one of the most turistic, and I understand why people gather there, wandering between towers, churches and palaces.

 

 

Today, breakfast will be an ice cream (saffron, and pistachio/almond).

Tonight, I will sleep in Volterra, but I absolutely need to finish the visits before the sunset, otherwise vampires might start running the treets...

 

That's dinner for today, gnocchi in a truffle and mushroom sauce.

Talking about food, at first sight, the ads below might seem to point you to local shows, music, dancing, plays, or I don't know what. Actually, they are ads for local fairs dedicated to a specific foodstuff. We have:
- Polenta on the top left
- Hare and wild boar on the top right
- Beef prepared with a local mushroom recipe on the bottom left
- yes, indeed, an ad for a dancing show on the bottom right
And the other side of the board was pretty much the same, but advertising other fairs.
Yes, food is important here, it is a serious matter!
