Val di Fiemme

On the following day, the road takes me to Italy, for the next cross country skiing World Cup competitions.
That's the view from my room in Varena, not bad, I could get used to it... :)))

In the evening, I have an amazing dinner at La Cantinetta.

The first day of competition takes place in Tesero. The tradition of this village in December and January is to display nativity scenes in the streets.

And this is the kind of food you can get in the VIP tent while waiting for the race to start (yes, I got upgraded this week, thanks Marillac!).

On the following day, I cross Cavalese on my way to the race.

The last part of the race is a 3km climb, known as the toughest cross country skiing section among all the World Cup competitions. During the rest of the winter, it is an alpine ski track, therefore used downhill, but today the athletes will have to climb it. And so do the spectators, stopping at the temporary bars / restaurants built just for today, every 500 meters or so (no, we are not stopping for a beer or for mulled wine, but to offer Comté, French cheese, to whoever wants to taste it). It seems properly inhuman to climb this slope with skis!

Maurice Manificat is going to get the 2nd best time of the day, well done Momo!!

Last views from the balcony, tomorrow I will leave Italy.
