Back in Anchorage

Back in Anchorage, and in the Snow City Café, for a last brunch, with biscuits & gravy with hashbrowns

Most of the day is spent at the hospital and at the bank. Not because I got into trouble, but because the Native Medical Center and the lobby of Wells Fargo are home to an incredible collection of native artifacts, including costumes, baskets and hunting weapons.

The traditional raincoat is made out of walrus guts. Seriously!
Dried gut is usually tan in color; white winter gut is created by inflating the cleaned, tan gut, soaking it in seawater, then leaving it outside in wind and sub-zero temperatures. The gut is then ready to be split open for sewing.

Time to fly back home, after 3 weeks I will never forget...

6 hours of connection in Toronto give me the opportunity to Tim Hortons. I missed their coffee and doughnuts during the last 3 years...

Godspeed and happy trails to all of you!

Katmai

Katmai National Park and Preserve is an active volcanic landscape, but it also protects 9,000 years of human history as well as important habitat for salmon and thousands of brown bears that feed on them.

One hour and a half of flight takes you to the airport of King Salmon.

Then 20 or 30 minutes of floatplane takes you to Brooks Camp. Best time ever :))))

Sport fishing is also part of the activities in this park, if you feel like competing with bears for the salmons...

And eagles, of course. Plenty of them.

No, this is not a lost picture from my trip to Seychelles, it is an Alaskan lake...
