Catlins (2)

In Curio Bay, around 5:30pm, everybody goes down to the beach, in order to try and spot the penguins who come back from fishing, in order to switch with their mate who was taking care of the nest. So the whole hostel follows the movement, and we find nice rocks to sit and share our cookies / dried fruits / nuts, getting ready for wait several hours, and hoping that it won't be useless.
And here is our reward for sitting so long on the windy beach:









On the following day, I carry on driving through the Catlins, with a first stop at McLean Falls, followed by a huge breakfast at the Whistling Frog:


Then a very short walk to Lake Wilkie:



And those are Purakaunui Falls. OK, this is not Iguazu, but nice enough to justify the walk...


A few kilometers later, here is Nugget Point and its lighthouse:
