Welcome to Edinburgh

Madainn mhath!

Here I am, ready to start chasing castle ghosts and lake monsters, in the country where Wimblebon champions and Jedi knights wear kilts.
The theme of the last holidays was The Lord of the Rings, you will have to guess which is the theme this time

First time ever at the Amsterdam airport, for the connection to Edinburgh: where else could you find tulip bulbs and smoked eel in the duty free shops?

How do you know you are on holidays? When you are woken up by seagulls instead of crows :)
Hours and hours walking in the city, trying to see as much as possible of Edinburgh.

Yes, we are in Great Britain here, therefore the event of the year was the birth of the royal baby (sorry Yannick, I didn't buy any for you...)

One of the main attractions will be my first castle (shouldn't be the last one, I guess), with the statues of Robert the Bruce and William Wallace at the main gate (for those of you who have no clue who I am talking about, it is time to see Braveheart (again)).

Because Scotland wouldn't be Scotland without the pubs:

Have just attended the first Anglican religious service of my life, in Rosslyn chapel, as it was the only way to enter it.

People look amazingly friendly. I wish I could understand what they say when they talk to me...to

First day: don't forget to switch from American to English, if you don't want people to look at you in a weird way.
Second day: realise that English is not suitable here either, you need Scottish. If you only have to remember one thing, in order to survive here: you don't order a "pint of beer", but a "paint of beer". Easy...
