Jersey (1)

Good evening!

Good bye Saint Malo, the trip to Saint Helier is just around one hour and a half by ferry.

Then I catch a bus, and head to my accommodation in Gorey Pier, on the Est coast of the island. Pretty nice view, isn't it? A bit far from everything, but so nice and quiet...

After a nap (I haven't slept enough last night...) and 5 minutes putting sunscreen everywhere (yes, I am in Jersey, but today the sun is shining bright, and the temperature should reach 26°C in the shade), time to start the walk of the day, from one side of the Royal Bay of Grouville to the other, and back. From what I see in the sand, there should be millions of crabs there, when the tide is not so low.

It also seems to be a haven for cuttlefish and all sorts of delicious things which could end up in my plate at some point before I leave...

Along the coast, you can see defensive towers, and German casemates built during WW2, but I will come back to this in another article.

Some of the towers have been nicely integrated to the architecture of private housing and, generally speaking, it is a pleasure to watch the houses built along the shore.

The only danger you can face if you get too close to that tower is clearly indicated by signs "Beware of flying balls". It is now located in the middle of a golf course...

When I come back, the tide is a lot higher, impossible to walk on the beach any longer, I have to use the promenade.
